Verse 1
Flowers by the Roadside
Were they meant to be?
Ominously, under these lilac skies
Verse 2
Flowers by the Roadside
Are they listening?
Tirelessly, as every blue bird cries
Chorus
Unborn, roses in the storm
Waiting for the rains to come
And carry them ashore
Unborn
Verse 3
Flowers by the Roadside
Memories hovering
Powerlessly, until their train arrives
Verse 4
Flowers by the Roadside
Slowly blossoming
Fearlessly, into the velvet night
Chorus
Unborn, roses in the storm
Waiting for the rains to come
And carry them ashore
Unborn, prisoners to the thorn
Never once imagining
How beautiful they are
How beautiful you are
Verse 1
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, and all is bright
Silent night, holy night
Glory speaks in pearly moonlight
Holy infant, so tender and mild
Sacred mother, so gentle and kind
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep, in heavenly…
Instrumental Interlude
Verse 2
Silent night, holy night
All is love, and all is light
Silent night, holy night
Stars behold a glimmering sight
One devotion chants from the choir
“Rest in me if your heart has grown tired”
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep, in heavenly…

Dream Pop singer-songwriter, Whitney Tai and Classical Guitarist, Michael Trainor release their winter mini EP debuting their original composition “Flowers By The Roadside,” produced by #1 Billboard Composer, Tim Janssens. The EP will consist of the title track as well as an alternative version of Silent Night. Writer and contributor at Sirius XM Radio, Earl Douglas calls the EP, “Hauntingly beautiful, a hark back to 1971 “The Carpenters” album. Flowers By The Roadside is a song illustrating man’s feat to acknowledge his own universal power and beauty in an oppressive civilization.
Whitney Tai is a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter, interior designer and art director. Tai is doing something that is rare into today’s musical landscape: she straddles the edge of pop and indie without sacrificing integrity. The journey began when Tai lost her mother to Cancer as a small child. That loss, along with a love for animals and nature, inspired her to use music and the fine arts as a means to heal those hurting emotionally and spiritually. Audiences were treated to Tai’s angelic voice with her debut album ‘Metamorphosis,’ a sweeping 7 song suite that captured the reflection and resolve dealing with the loss of her beloved grandfather emphasizing her emancipation from pain. Anchored by the cinematic production of chart topping producer Tim Janssens, Tai was
put in the same conversation with artists such as Kate Bush and Annie Lennox. Following her album release, Tai dropped the Forever EP, which built upon Metamorphosis’ lyrical introspection and showed the ability to seamlessly adapt as a pop/rock singer-songwriter canon. Music Connection Magazine named Whitney Tai as “one of the Top Live Bands of 2018.” Tai is now back at work on her second studio set up to release in early 2019.
Michael Trainor is a Los Angeles based composer, trained by renowned Classical Guitarist, Julian Gray. Having survived the violent inner city public schools of Baltimore in the 1980s, he distracted himself by focusing on his love for music. Michael studied a wide variety of instruments such as clarinet, alto saxophone, guitar and piano. He was exposed to a wide variety of music but found solace in heavy metal and hardcore punk. He was also member of the classically influenced speed metal band, Neophyte. While a resident in NYC, he composed and performed music for the successful short film by Keith Erlich, The Knifemaker. Michael is a creator of paintings, inventor of experimental short films, and an avid wine lover-reviewer with a dedicated following of winos on instagram. His guitar playing style is inspired by the works of Marc Ribot and Derek Bailey and his compositions build a uniquebridge of styles from modern classical composers such as Leo Brouwer and to country greats like Waylon Jennings.
Critics are calling the EP, “the perfect winter tonic”... “magical, filled with emotion …“A plush, goosebump-giving, visual lullaby with haunting ambivalent tonality.” Paul Apelgren, music editor to Film Composer, Michael Giacchino, elaborates, "Whitney Tai and friends approach pop with an almost classical sensibility; they make old things new and new things soar. Tai has a voice and perspective that may very well become part of the greater musical lexicon in the next couple years, and she provides a fervent answer to that constant question of what you should be listening to NOW." Flowers By The Roadside will be released and available worldwide on all digital platforms the week of Christmas.
